Women's Caucus Monthly Meeting -- Discussion & Activism

Special Speaker for our monthly meeting of the Democrats Abroad Canada Women's Caucus!

The first hour we will be joined by guest speaker, Robin Utz about anti-choice policy in Missouri and how it affected her family. Robin has experience with turning personal experiences into activism. Please check out her website Defending Grace which was designed to discuss the gray area stories around infertility and abortions, how this relates back to overall reproductive rights and laws around them. Robin has been on the Moth podcast and advocating in DC. Robin will speak to how we as Democrats Abroad can make change in state legislation surrounding women's healthcare.
Together in a previous meeting we decided to focus on voter suppression for our actions. It’s happening all over the US and it must be addressed by policy and pressure on elected officials by US voters.

The last half hour will be phone banking together for the current campaign support the bill for all New Jersey overseas voters to vote in state elections. Don't have an account for phone banking yet? No problem! Details for signing up will be sent in the RSVP email.

Zoom details will be sent after you RSVP for the event.

Annual General Meeting (AGM) and ExComm Election Results

Let's keep the momentum going! Democrats Abroad leveraged the American voters abroad to put a democrat in the White House and flip the Senate. We have another cycle of elections coming up in 2022 and we need for everyone to stay engaged. We are open for suggestions on how to reach the untapped Americans living in Argentina and make sure their voices are heard.

Please join us for our Annual General Meeting where we will announce the 2021-2023 DA-Argentina Leaders and discuss upcoming initiatives to engage our local membership.

    We welcome your participation!

Central American Immigration 2021 under the Biden Administration

We're excited to host this timely event, bringing back our former Ambassador and friend, Mari Carmen Aponte. Ambassador Aponte participated in DA's Ambassadors for Biden and joined us for our 2020 elections event. And we look forward to welcoming award-winning journalist, Maria Emilia Martin, contributor to NPR and other news media, and based in Guatemala.

Our speaker event is centered around the DA Resolution:Central American Immigration 2021, which focuses on the Northern Triangle Countries of El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras, authored by John Chudy, Vice Chair of Democrats Abroad Guatemala. We're fortunate to have his collaboration and for having him join us personally. John will be presenting the resolution, which provides much food for thought - and discussion!

We'll get to hear from our guest speakers and will then follow up with a Q & A discussion session.

U.S. immigration policies have profound consequences for our Central American neighbors, and affect the lives of U.S. Citizens as well. We have always been, and will continue to be, a nation of immigrants. So please join us from wherever you are.

We look forward to seeing you there,

Alexia Chamorro, Chair; and Hudak Hendrix, Vice Chair

    DA El Salvador Formation Committee

Note: We will begin the formal establishment of DA El Salvador this fall, and seek members interested in joining us on our leadership team - or volunteering in other ways. Or simply sign up to be on our Contact List for news and events announcements.
