Yesterday, on election day, the American people turned out with a resounding message: Trump and the Republicans' destructive vision of America is not welcome.
DNC Chair Ken Martin summed it up, "American voters just delivered a Democratic resurgence. A Republican reckoning. A Blue Sweep... Over the next year, the ability to stop Trump in his tracks runs directly through the Democratic Party. We will earn every vote. We will win."
Waking up in Paris the morning after the election, we saw:
- Zohran Mamdani's energizing win in NYC
- Abigail Spanberger and Mikie Sherrill are the first female governors of their states
- In Virginia, every single county shifted blue, picking up 13 seats in the state legislature
- In New Jersey, Democrats now have a supermajority in the General Assembly
- In Georgia, Democrats FLIPPED two Public Service Commission seats, the first victories in these seats for 25 years
- Prop 50 in California passed - a direct rebuttal to the Republicans gerrymandering ordered by Trump
- Voter rights were protected in Maine and they passed a red flag law
- Pennsylvania Supreme Court maintained its 5-2 Democratic majority
- Democrats won by huge margins in key mayoral races: Detroit (+54 points), Cincinnati (+56 points), and Atlanta (+79 points)
...to name just a few Democratic wins.
Today, we celebrate. We pop the champagne that we've had chilling since 2024. We cry with joy and relief. We let the replenished hope wash over us.
Tomorrow, we get back to work. We've got our work cut out for us as we look ahead to keep the blue wave going heading into the 2026 midterms.
