Democrats Abroad represents the nearly 9 million Americans living abroad. Our votes were the margin of victory in 2020 in places like Georgia, Michigan, and my home state of Arizona, and I believe we can be the difference.

  • Understanding the AAPI Vote: Exploring Voter Data with Christine Chen from APIAVote

According to the 2020 U.S. Census, the Asian population is the fastest-growing racial and ethnic group in the U.S.

    2021-11-12_APIA_Vote.png2021-11-13_APIA_Vote.png

The impact of this large group was evident following the 2020 November election with much analysis pointing to the strategic and important role played by Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) voters. During the Georgia run-off election, both the Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff campaigns had organizers focused specifically on the AAPI vote in Georgia. Looking ahead to the 2022 midterms, it will continue to be critical to get AAPI voters to turn-out. But what do we know about this voting group? What challenges do we face and how do we help get out the vote among the AAPI community in 2022?

Join the Democrats Abroad AAPI Caucus to hear from Christine Chen, co-Founder and Executive Director of Asian Pacific Islander American Vote (APIAVote). Christine and her team at APIAVote conduct a bi-annual survey on Asian American voters, which provides important information about voting behaviors and opinions. Hear about the findings from their 2020 voter survey and what trends they have noticed over time, as well as the AAPI vote overseas.

Following the discussion with Christine, there will be time to discuss as a group how we can get out the vote among AAPI voters living overseas. All will be welcome to participate and to contribute to developing the AAPI Caucus’ Get Out the Vote plan.

    RSVP

Understanding the diverse AAPI voting population, including barriers and challenges to voting, will be crucial as we move into the 2022 midterms, not just to mobilize voters in the U.S., but also AAPI voters living abroad. RSVP to learn more about activating AAPI voters and how you can support the work of the Democrats Abroad AAPI Caucus.
