The work of the Nominations and Elections Committee (NEC) for Democrats Abroad Spain (DA Spain) is to run the elections and to ensure participation by all DA Spain members.
We aim to provide ample opportunity for you to vote AND encourage you to run for office. Below is some information you may find helpful.
The Chair of the NEC is Doris Stanger. The Election Meeting will take place at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Democrats Abroad Spain (DA Spain) on March 1st between the hours of 15:00 and 18:00. This year the AGM will be held online. RSVP here...
Online voting at the Election Meeting will be by electronic ballot. Online voting will close at midnight February 28th 2025 (CET). There will be no voting by proxy. Those persons attending the Election Meeting online are required to vote in accordance with the online voting deadlines.
We will also vote on amendments to our DA Spain By-Laws. The text of all proposed amendments will be distributed no later than February 7, and the online ballots will include those proposed amendments.
The NEC is accepting candidate applications through the online application form, until midnight, (CET) February 10th 2025. Candidate Application Form All eligible candidates will then be nominated to run for office by the NEC. The positions to be filled are Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, Counsel, 5 DPCA (DA Global) voting representatives and 3 DPCA non voting representatives. If the NEC does not receive sufficient candidates to fill all positions, nominations will be accepted from the floor at the Online Meeting. Only those attending online will be eligible to vote.
