DAFrance News and Events: June

Happy Pride Month! Celebrate the 50th anniversary of Pride Month, with the LGBTQ+ community taking their events online around the world. Check out a Virtual Dance Party, and a Big Gay Pub Quiz Fun(draiser) supporting Democrats Abroad's critical "get out the vote" efforts.

The Black Lives Matter movement has rocked the world, with protests and demands for real systemic change across Europe, even as things have intensified in the United States. WATCH South Carolina native son, Paris Chapter Chair, and Diversity Caucus Co-Chair Reed Kennedy’s interview with France 24 (English), talking about how this time things might be different than in the past:

“The difference is you see what used to be called the “silent majority”... which did not feel that racism was a serious problem… has become a minority. That is the big difference now.”

Georgia's primary elections on June 9 were a catastrophe, but not an accident. This month we bring the fight to protect the vote to you, with conversations with former Presidential Candidate and former DNC Chair Howard Dean as he shares his views on what its going to take to win, and also as he looks at how we can overcome voter suppression, maladministration, and misinformation this November. TAKE ACTION to protect the vote -- join us for a 1-hour call and tweet storm to push Congress on protecting the USPS, ballot return by email or online, and vote-by-mail. We're still phonebanking and have added new training dates, below.

SIGN UP for a virtual organizing workshop with the DA France's Rise & Organize "Road Show" where we will help our DA members, activists, and leaders get ready for the most important election of our lifetimes. Check out Paris/Ile de France on June 20th, and "France Nord": Brittany, Normany, and Strasbourg Chapters on June 24 — with more to come!

Congratulations to the delegation elected to represent Democrats Abroad at the Democratic National Convention this August. Special shout outs to those from France: Anne Dlugosz, who will be attending as a delegate for Sanders, and Joe Smallhoover, one of our newest DNC representatives. Thanks to all the amazing candidates who stepped up to run!

REPLAY: Watch Global Black Caucus' Black Lives Matter Vigil, here. Check out Robert Reich's talk with DA. Check out election data whiz David Shor. Download the final DA Platform that was adopted, here

Phonebanking with the Youth Caucus!

This is a recurring event.

Every Saturday the DA France Youth Caucus is hosting a virtual phonebank (via Zoom) calling thousands of US Democratic voters living in France to make sure they are registered and ready to vote in critical Presidential, Senate and House races this fall. We need your help. You must be a member of Democrats Abroad France to help make these calls, if you aren't already: join here

Get Trained with DA France
For the 90 minutes we will walk through phonebanking training using CallHub, including some new features specific to France. We can also answer questions you may have, and support each other as we call voters.

If you have done the training, and are comfortable phone banking, then you know you can make calls from home any time, to US voters around the world — there is no reason to wait until Saturday or join our Zoom to make calls, but please feel free to come by, say hi and share your experiences calling others.

1-2:30PM - Phonebanking Training
2:30-5PM - Phonebanking, Q&A

Via Zoom - link in RSVP

Before Saturday
Sign up to become a call agent with CallHub: www.democratsabroad.org/phonebanking.
