August 2019 Newsletter - Oodles of August Events

Thankfully, the heatwave is over. Climate change is real and happening now. We have a short time to act, and we have to make sure that Trump and other Republicans don't get re-elected in 2020.

Copy_of_Phone_Banking_2019.png   💻🎧😊 Phone banking is vital to turning out the vote. In early August, we have phone banking campaigns for the two Special Federal elections in North Carolina (Election Dates: September 10) and the Louisiana State Primary Election (Election Date: October 12). Then in early September, we will be adding phone banking campaigns for the State General elections in Kentucky, Mississippi, New Jersey, and Virginia (Election Dates: November 5).  Learning how to phone bank now will make 2020 much more comfortable, and we will need as many people as possible making calls to our members in Germany and around the world to ensure maximum voter turnout. If you would like more information on phone banking and to sign up to help out, click here.

Join us Saturday, August 17 from 1:30-3:30 pm for our second DA Germany Online "Meet and Greet." We want to make Democrats Abroad more understandable and accessible to all members. Candice Kerestan, DA Germany Chair, and Kenton Barnes, DA Germany Vice-Chair will review our organization's structure and goals, discuss ways to get involved in the 2020 election, and more. Whether you're a long-time member or brand new to DA Germany, we warmly welcome all members to join us for this afternoon event. We hope to answer any questions you may have and have a lively, productive discussion with each other.

To actively participate in the event, you will need a computer with an internet connection as well as a working microphone. RSVP today. You will receive the connection information after you RSVP.

CSD is still going strong in Germany. Democrats need to have a presence at CSD events. All the locations below will have stands; two will walk in the parade/demo. If you are interested in helping out, RSVP today. You can volunteer at any location, even if you don’t live there. CSD is a fun event; you could make it a day trip and bring your friends and family, too. If you can't make it this year, think about joining in next year. We need to show our pride and fill out our ranks in the parades.

We can’t win in 2020 without you. It takes a village to do all the things we need to do. Here are three opportunities to help:

  1. Take our Volunteer Survey. We are looking for volunteers in all areas.
  2. DA Germany is looking for members interested in heading our LGBTQ+ Caucus, Progressive Caucus, and Youth Caucus. Find out more information.

Do you have an idea? We're looking for suggestions on how we can connect with more Americans in Germany, find places to advertise, events to have and any suggestions you have to get more people to vote.  Bookmark this link and submit your ideas at any time.

Let’s keep the Blue Wave going in an off-year. Please vote, it is still essential to gain Democratic seats in this year's elections.

There are local, state and federal elections in 2019. If you vote in Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Jersey, or Virginia, there are elections in 2019. North Carolina's 3rd and 9th districts will have special elections for seats in the US House of Representatives. Please vote this year. Republicans win when we don’t vote!

Even if you voted in 2018, submitting a new ballot request form in 2019 is required by most states.

Make a new ballot request for 2019 — send the form right away!

  1. Go to to complete the *Ballot Request form (FPCA).
  2. Follow the instructions to attach your signature online—or—print out and sign the completed form.
  3. Send the signed FPCA to your election official. You may EMAIL, FAX or MAIL your FPCA to your Local Election Official.

⭐⭐ All members who start a sustaining membership in August will have a chance to win an Obama action figure.⭐⭐

DAG is a self-sustaining, 100% volunteer organization. Thank you to all our sustaining members -- your donations are vital. Without you, our mission would be a lot more complicated.

In 2020, we must defeat Donald Trump! If you are not currently a sustaining member, please consider becoming one. In 2016, we calculated that each Euro spent resulted in 3 new members/voters, and in 2020 every vote will be necessary. A donation of €5 per month or more will make a big difference for us. If you are interested in donating, either one time, monthly, or quarterly, please find our bank information below. To make it a recurring donation, you would do a “Dauerauftrag." The suggested recurring donation amount is €5, but higher amounts are gladly accepted.
