National Actions Against Gun Violence

#TakeAction Tuesday: As many of you know, there are several national (and International) actions being planned to respond to the epidemic of gun violence in our country. All three of the announced major actions are being led by youth, and we’re proud to support and encourage participation in all three.

On March 14, Women's March Youth EMPOWER is planning a National School Walkout. More info here: https://www.facebook.com/events/1767175080245694/

On March 24, the survivors of Parkland, FL and youth nationwide are planning The March For Our Lives in Washington, DC and in cities around the country. More info here: https://www.marchforourlives.com/

On April 20, students around the country are planning #NationalSchoolWalkout. More info here: https://www.facebook.com/nationalhighschoolwalkout/

In addition to these days of action in the weeks and months ahead, we ask all of our members to commit TODAY to taking decisive and consistent action to #EndGunViolence. Here are six things you can do:

☎️ 1. Call your Congresspeople and demand the Center for Disease Control be allowed to study gun violence so we can get the facts about how to best end this epidemic. Go to https://5calls.org/issue/action-against-gun-violence for call scripts and your reps phone numbers.

🚫 2. Drain The NRA. Join the movement to boycott the gun lobby, gun industry, and their corporate partners. Check out drainthenra.com to find a list of businesses that offer discounts to NRA members, and contact their leadership to let them know you plan to boycott their products.

💰 3. If your Congressperson accepted money from the NRA, demand they donate that amount to Everytown for Gun Safety. You can find a list of politicians who received NRA money here: https://www.opensecrets.org/orgs/recips.php?id=d000000082

👀 4. Check your investments. Divest from gun companies. Check here: https://goodbyegunstocks.com/

🐦 5. You can use the free site Tweetdeck to set up scheduled and automated tweets. Let your representatives know how you feel several times a day. Go to https://tweetdeck.twitter.com/ and add in your twitter account. Click on new Tweet, type what you want to say and schedule it. You can schedule multiple tweets for various dates and times.
