Dems Abroad Participate In No Tyrants No Kings Demonstrations Worldwide

Democrats Abroad Participate in 50 “No Tyrants / No Kings” Day events around the world

Americans abroad join forces with the domestic movement & others worldwide to denounce authoritarianism

Amsterdam, NL - On June 14th, Democrats Abroad will organize or participate in peaceful demonstrations in 50 cities around the world as a part of a global day of defiance against authoritarianism. The events are in solidarity with the  “No Kings” Day demonstrations taking place across the USA tomorrow.

Demonstrations are taking place in major cities including Amsterdam, Athens, Berlin, Cape Town, Helsinki, London, Paris, Prague, Rome, Stockholm, Tokyo, and Toronto. Organizers expect thousands of participants, including U.S. citizens  living overseas and local allies.

The threat of authoritarianism in the USA has never been more urgent. Yesterday the senior Senator from California was wrestled to the ground and handcuffed as he attempted to ask Homeland Security Secretary Noem a question. Trump has nationalized the California national guard against the wishes of the Governor, and has deployed active duty Marines to support his mass deportation agenda.

Meanwhile, across the country in Washington D.C. Trump is rolling out a military parade which will cost tax payers between $25-45 million. All while the Senate is at work on a budget which will explode the deficit by trillions of dollars.

It is no wonder the American people have had enough.

“Over the last few months we’ve seen the resistance to MAGA authoritarianism emerge and strengthen,“ said Democrats Abroad’s International Chair Martha McDevitt-Pugh. “It will only continue, as more people see how cruel and destructive Trump’s big bad billionaire budget will be to them, even as he spends millions to throw himself a vanity military parade. Democrats Abroad stand with our friends and family back home in opposing the rise of authoritarianism in the U.S.”
