Please join us for our March Climate on Wednesday. March 27 at 10:30 am ET/3:30 pm CET. In honor of Women’s History Month, we are teaming up with the Global Women’s Caucus to explore the rise of women in environmental leadership roles federally, from strong voices in the Department of Energy to positions in the EPA, the White House Office on Domestic Climate Policy, and more.

In a discussion, Women’s Rise in Federal Environmental Leadership, our special guest speaker will be Anika Kreckel. Ms. Kreckel, who led various decarbonization programs and policy planning for the Rhode Island Office of Energy Resources, will provide an insider’s perspective on growing the female power base as guardians of the planet.

About the Speaker

AK_Headshot_4-22_square.jpg Anika Kreckel is a native Rhode Islander who has spent much of her life in Germany. In 6th grade, she was introduced to the topic of global warming through Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth. The documentary inspired her to focus her education and work on this topic. Anika majored in Economics at Clark University to understand the mechanics of what drives the modern world and how it influences the climate. Her interest in the relationship between climate change and behavioral change led her to a joint master's in sustainable development in Leipzig (Germany) and Basel (Switzerland).

Most recently, Anika led select decarbonization programs and policy planning for the Rhode Island Office of Energy Resources. This included spearheading the state's strategy for heating decarbonization and coordinating statewide collaboration to meet RI's net-zero mandate by 2050.

Anika is now providing freelance support to organizations working on decarbonization. She loves the ocean and food and is an avid knitter!
