Global Events Coordinator


About the Position

Democrats Abroad (DA) was the margin of victory for Joe Biden in Georgia and Arizona, and we’re determined to not only deliver scale-tipping votes in races across the United States in 2022 and beyond, but also to transport the perspectives of U.S. citizens living abroad back to lawmakers stateside. In consultation with relevant stakeholders, the Global Events Coordinator will help achieve this aim by developing, coordinating, and overseeing global events and speaker series, as well as provide support for DA country committees’ events as requested – with the ultimate goal of creating meaningful and impactful events that will drive greater political engagement and voter turnout among the larger U.S. population abroad.

 

Responsibilities

  • In consultation with the DA International Executive Committee and other Global Teams, develop and carry out global events (speaker series, meet the candidate series, DA meet and greets, etc.)
  • Improve workflows for global event scheduling and promotion
  • Draft speaker invitations to be sent by the DA International Executive Committee
  • Correspond with speakers and/or their staff about the event
  • Write event descriptions for global events, as well as provide promotional text for advertising at the country and chapter levels
  • Schedule Zoom meetings and webinars for global events
  • Maintain a centralized event calendar that is accessible to DA leaders
  • Maintain a centralized list of speakers and their contact information
  • Manage the “Events” page on DA’s website
  • Support DA country committees and chapters with their events as requested
  • Work closely with the Global Communications Team to ensure coherent, consistent, and effective internal and external messaging about global events
  • Report to DA International Executive Committee members on a bi-weekly basis and regularly attend their meetings

 

Skills & Qualifications

  • Commitment to helping DA, the Democratic Party, and Democratic candidates succeed
  • Member of Democrats Abroad (join here)
  • First-hand knowledge of the U.S. voting constituency abroad, as well as of issues unique to overseas voters
  • Deep familiarity with tools, tactics, and technologies for developing and carrying out large-scale online events
  • Proven track record for organizing successful large-scale events, preferably in political settings
  • Strong interpersonal and project management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects across multiple time zones
  • Willingness to work nights and weekends as needed
  • Highly communicative, with strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong IT skills, especially with Google Workspace, Zoom, WebEx, and NationBuilder
  • Experience in political event organizing desired

Location: Online

Estimated Time Commitment: 10-15 hours/week

Language: English

Start Date: Flexible

End Date: May 2023

Compensation: Unpaid (but tremendously rewarding!)
