GWC June 2026 Newsletter: It’s Time We Take Back Our Country

LETTER FROM THE CHAIR

It’s Time We Take Back Our Country

For the past ten months, we’ve worked to amplify what it means to be a woman in the United States during this endless cycle of horrors. We’ve discussed how Trad Wives are part of a larger propaganda machine. We’ve pointed to Project 2025’s planned assault against women. We’ve focused on the corruption and on their global, rapey culture

But we’ve also highlighted the multitudes of inspiring women throughout our country’s history on whose courageous shouIders we now stand. We’ve messaged our profound belief that women will lead us out of this mess.

This has all been to remind us that we have power - not just political power, but existential, deep, cultural and emotional power. This is our imperative, to counter-balance the media’s deep-seeded patriarchal bias to focus on the issues affecting men, who perhaps unsurprisingly, find themselves suffering en masse from acute loneliness, among other trends.

The media and our Democratic political leaders have been shockingly silent on the disproportionate impact of this administration’s policies on women. If there is any light on this, it’s thanks to the women themselves - whether it’s AOC’s indefatigably crisscrossing the nation, breaking through the attention economy on stage or the news, or MacKenzie Scott who is demonstrating a different philanthropy that is decidedly female, or of course the stunningly fearless admissions of the Epstein class survivors

This movement is worldwide - powerful women kicking ass and leading from a culture of Care. Who can forget Jacinda Ardern, the former Prime Minister of New Zealand, whose approach redefined traditional leadership by actively prioritizing empathy, communal well-being and transparent communication? Thank god for the female journalists who write important think pieces about institutional misogyny.

We have to read them. We have to pay attention. We have to talk about all of it, parsing and planning. Because they have a plan, and it’s written down. We need to make our own, and then get louder than ever. We need to be cross-generational, multi-racial and without religious bias. We cannot just pay lip service - we need to create space for different viewpoints and leadership styles.

Anyone who wants to fight for women’s rights has already earned their seat at the table. We need to uproot the patriarchy, and by that I mean the institutions that were constructed by and for men. Real change cannot happen until we do.

Let me be clear - I am not hating on men. But every system and institution we have - government, science, education, history, religion, even the damn family - centers men and the patriarchal structure. It is not serving our women, our children or our critters. It’s not serving the planet. It isn’t even serving men. And women’s issues don’t stop at reproductive justice. It’s all a women’s issue - climate, gun control, healthcare, affordability, civil rights - all of it.

This month, the GWC will reclaim this country’s founding principles, our values and even our iconography. We’ll tell this story across our social media. Then, we will platform Women. We’re  done waiting to be saved. We are the cavalry. We know people don’t give up power easily, but we are on the right side of history. Let’s claim the power we deserve.

It’s time to vote the bastards out.

In solidarity,
Sally DeSipio

VOTE!

If you are still reading, I’m going to assume you’ve requested your 2026 ballot. As you know, we have to vote in record numbers - Hungary-level percentages (almost 79%). There are an estimated 5-9 million Americans living abroad; chances are you know quite a few of them. Please take a minute and text five friends to make sure they’ve requested their 2026 ballot through votefromabroad.org. If they need help, please reach out to us.

The California primary is Tuesday, June 2nd. You have until 8pm PDT to fax your ballot back. This is an incredibly important election for Governor, among other things.

Other primaries on Tuesday: Iowa, Montana, New Jersey, New Mexico, South Dakota. Don’t assume your vote doesn’t count. It does. Show up.

VOLUNTEER

Yes, we have an amazing team of women. But as with all volunteer organizations, we are dependent on finding space between children, jobs, school and other concerns. But our work persists - and it has never been more urgent. They have a plan, and it’s getting women “babied” and helpless. We are making our own plan. Please join and help us reach more voters. Here are our most pressing needs:

  • Content Creators: if you are comfortable being on camera, please join our impressive marketing team. We provide scripts and editing.
  • Graphic Designers: Experience in Canva preferred.
  • Journalists: Prose allows us to give context and nuance to complicated subjects. Sometimes that is a far better avenue for information.
  • Social Media Managers: We are on every social media platform and post daily. We are looking for dedicated platform managers.
  • Project Manager: We like organized people…who doesn’t? We are mounting our final push to the mid-terms with an aggressive Get Out The Vote strategy and messaging that centers women. Familiarity with the project management tool Notions would be great!
  • Tech expertise: Our global helpdesk needs volunteers to help crack the tech code for a multitude of volunteers around the world. We need women with experience running large Zoom events, FB and Instagram Lives, and ease with various platform tools.
  • Policy Expert: Specifically around gender equity.

STIRRING THE STIRRING THE POT:  The Dissident's Kitchen

Our Global feminist cookbook needs your amazing recipes!

When U.S. suffragists needed an unexpected weapon in their 72-year fight for the vote, they turned to the cookbook — using recipes to build community, raise funds, and smuggle politics onto the dinner table. That tradition is yours to continue.

We're collecting the recipes you make, bake, shake, mix, or defrost to nourish yourself and the people around you. From the earnest to the tongue-in-cheek, tell us what's on your table and the story behind it. Dishes, drinks, and the meaning they carry are all welcome.

Click here to submit your recipe(s).

Deadline to submit:  July 4th, 2026

RED, WHITE & ZINE

At our Feminist Hackathon, a room full of people - men and women who zoomed in, logged on, and showed up - stopped talking about how bad things are and started making something instead. The grief, the rage, the dark humor, the stubborn hope - all of it went onto the page. Red, White & Zine is what came out of that room. Art and writing from feminists abroad who needed somewhere to put everything they were carrying. It’s a low-cost way of donating and getting something back.

Make your investment here.

HELP US BUILD THE MOVEMENT WOMEN DESERVE

They have a plan, and it’s written down.

Meanwhile, the Global Women’s Caucus is building something very different: community, resistance, voter outreach, feminist media, and spaces where women can lead loudly, creatively, and unapologetically.

We are creating the kind of movement this moment demands.

But organizing takes resources. Volunteers are free, but phone calls, paid advertising, postcards, printing, comms platforms - all of this adds up.

If you’re able, please help support the work of the GWC with a donation today. The amount doesn’t matter. The intention does.

We are done waiting to be saved.
