The Land That Never Has Been Yet - A discussion of democracy in America

There's been a lot of talk about how this or that election is the one to "save our democracy". I, myself, have often wondered aloud about the state of our democracy in conversations with friends, which got me thinking - what does that word 'democracy' even mean? And - is this a bug in the system or the system at work? This downward spiral into the dark political well of despair only ended when I remembered I know of a podcast that deals with these very questions: Scene On Radio, season 4 - The Land That Never Has Been Yet, episode 2 - The Excess of Democracy.

If you are like me and Henry Knox who believe "our government must be braced, changed or altered to secure our lives" again, I think a great place to start is by examining what democracy actually meant to the Framers as they were crafting our Constitution.
