Message from the Chair:

As Democrats Abroad Austria works to plan for the remainder of 2025 and for 2026 and the midterms, please make sure to RSVP for the July 4th party on July 6th on the DA Austria page.  It will be a good time to be part of the DA community, and to remember that the United States is a strong democracy while we all work to make sure it stays that way!

Solidarity Sundays Vienna

The Price of Eggs - From Kitchen Table to Corporate Boardroom

Ever wonder why your breakfast costs twice as much? Our Economic Justice team is exploring how egg prices connect to corporate monopolies and what we can do about it.

Join us on Sunday, June 15th as we trace the path from your kitchen table to corporate boardrooms, then discuss how antitrust laws could crack open fairer markets for everyone. Antitrust analysis and artisan snacks from 4-6pm. RSVP

— Tanya Lolonis and Jacqueline Berman, SolSun Co-coordinators

Summer 🍹cocktails with DA Austria:

📣 Calling all volunteers, past and future: We will gather on Wednesday, 25 June @ 6:30 p.m. for summer cocktail hour with DA Austria.

Come join us at Cafe Kunsthalle am Karlsplatz to learn about lots of exciting opportunities to volunteer with DA Austria and enjoy a cocktail together on a pretty summer evening (rain or shine)! If you are interested in – or have experience with – social media, communications, events planning, volunteer organizing, phone banking, mid-term election organizing – or just want to learn more about what DA Austria has planned for the year and where you can plug in, please join us!

Members of the DA Austria Executive Committee will be there to share vision, plans, and opportunities for you to volunteer and help promote the Democrats Abroad message, resist Trump’s Agenda 2025 plans, and join the fight to take back Congress in 2026!  RSVP

— Jacqueline Berman

July 4th Celebration

Join us as Democrats Abroad Austria celebrates Independence Day with an all-American buffet, live music, and democratic fun!

Help DA raise funds to reach the thousands of Americans in Austria who don't vote. The overseas vote is the margin of victory in races up and down the ballot. We're fundraising to get out the vote in 2026!

Issues and Actions:

Fight Back against the Big, Bad, Billionaire Tax Break
Republicans in the House passed MAGA’s Big Bad Billionaires bill by a single vote - and now it is in the hands of the Senate.

The Senate aims to finalize this bill by July 4, so we need to act fast.

📞 Call your Senators NOW and tell them to vote NO on this dangerous reconciliation bill.

Why This Matters

This bill would do massive damage to the fabric of American society, with the single largest transfer of wealth in US history, taking money from Medicare, Medicaid and food stamps to pay for massive tax breaks for the top 1%.

Trillions in tax breaks would balloon the federal deficit by $3.4 trillion in only 10 years.

The bill would effectively legalize corruption, preventing any government employee from being held in contempt of court if they defy a judge’s ruling.

It would destroy the country’s nascent clean energy manufacturing renaissance and cut billions in education to fund projects such as ICE detention centers.

These provisions aren’t just harmful — they’re a coordinated attack on working people, students, climate progress and democracy itself.

The Trump budget passed by the House is too much even for some Republican Senators. If the House and Senate are not able to reconcile, it would mean the death and burial of this big, bad, budget bomb – and a victory for hard-working Americans.

Resistance Roundtables
Resistance Roundtables are small group events organized by Democrats Abroad members to build community, share ideas, and take action together. With democracy under threat in the U.S., every action—no matter how small—helps build collective power. These events provide a space for members to engage in resistance activities and contribute to meaningful change.

Roundtables are also a great way for members to share strategies and insights with other Democrats Abroad members around the world. We're delighted we can provide the basics for roundtables you might like to run, and look forward to helping lift your outreach and ideas further!

How Do Resistance Roundtables Work?

Resistance Roundtables bring together small, self-directed, groups—either in person or online—to take direct action and strategize for impact.

  • The host invites a group of friends or fellow activists to meet.
  • Before the meeting, the host selects activities from our action library or builds their own.
  • During the meeting, the group carries out an action or discusses an issue or reading.
  • After the meeting, follow up with your team, let us know how your meeting went, and if you can - share about the experience on your social media channels!

Young Democrats – Kleidertausch Party and Potluck
Young Democrats had a fantastic time at our third event on June 7th, a swap meet. Clothes were exchanged, books were traded, snacks were eaten, and a good time was had by all. Even though it was a holiday weekend, we had eight people show up over the course of the event. We're looking forward to seeing each other again at DAA's Independence Day event on July 6th.
