Dems Abroad August 2024 National Newsletter – Harris/Walz & Us!

What a difference a few weeks can make!

We have seen a surge of enthusiasm behind our Democratic nominee for President of the United States, Kamala Harris and her running mate, Tim Walz.

Kamela Harris' historic candidacy has inspired so many of us to act, donate, get involved, share memes, seek out information, and become part of a movement. We are thrilled to see so many new faces, ready to help get the job done for Democrats within the next 90 days.

We welcome your contributions to help win this sprint and defend democracy!

Make Sure You Have Registered to Vote in November!

As registration deadlines in various states approach, go to VoteFromAbroad.org and register today!

Specifically, using VoteFromAbroad.org helps us know that you are ready to go for this election, thus helping us cut our voter outreach spending.

DA Postcards Ready to Mail!

For the past year, DA volunteers throughout Germany have been preparing postcards to send to members in key states and House districts. These cards remind and encourage voters to register and vote. Now we're almost ready to send them out.

Can you help?

These stunning, lively, patriotic, dazzling cards reflect the breadth and diversity of our Democratic community. Their colorful, eye-catching designs will be engagingly effective. In addition, the messages are direct and informative.

We have more than 1,500 postcards ready to send. A small team of members in the Frankfurt chapter will do the final work to prepare them for mailing in September.

If you're not in the Frankfurt area but you'd like to assist, we now need postage and you can help. You can make a donation here.

Thank you for your support!

Did you know that your monetary donations to Democrats Abroad Germany stay right here and are used exclusively to organize and get out the vote among Americans in Germany?

Please consider making a donation today to ensure we do everything we can to ensure Democrats win up and down the ballot this November!

Update From One of our Dems Abroad Delegates From Germany, Quaide Williams

"What an honor it was to be elected delegate this year, and how exciting that this year of all years is so historic! I would’ve been happy to vote for such a wonderful president again, President Biden, but I am absolutely over the moon that I was able to cast my vote as delegate for our next president, our first female president, Kamala Harris. When our delegation returns to Germany from Chicago, we’ll have many more stories to tell and pictures to share."

Thanks to Quaide, along with Kenton Barnes, Malaika Kusumi, and Katie Solon, for representing us at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago from August 19-22, 2024.

Further information on the DA delegation can be found here.

Merch Shop Update

Our merch team is currently working to update the DAG shop for all your Harris / Walz needs. You can find it here

A Gen Z member from the Düsseldorf-Ruhr chapter is also donating her time and materials to make friendship bracelets just for Democrats Abroad. Keep an eye out for this fun addition to our shop soon!

Democrats Abroad Pride Events Continue Throughout August

With its Christopher Street Day events spread throughout the months of June, July and August, Germany has a whole summer of Pride.
Look for the DA logo on banners and tents at these parades and festivals throughout the season.  We'll be there, loudly and proudly, just like in Nuremberg (shown above)!

Volunteers are still needed for our remaining stands and marches, including in Erlangen and Bremen. All Pride events in Germany are updated here

Shout Out to Our Press Team

Have you seen familiar faces in the German media over the last few weeks?
Our press coordinator Pegi Jones has received an extraordinary number of press requests over the past few weeks, and she and her team have worked tirelessly on short notice to spread the word about voting abroad as Americans by appearing in print, radio and TV interviews.

Thank you to everyone who has boosted our media presence to help us reach new members and get out the vote in November.
