On Our Mind: Gerrymandering

"Conservative lawmakers are conjuring up voter suppression tactics ahead of the election this year so they can manipulate the maps in 2021. From forcing voters to cast their ballots in-person during a pandemic to imposing restrictive photo ID requirements, hyper-partisan officials would rather dilute certain votes to hold on to power than be held accountable in a system of fair representation. With gerrymandered districts, state legislators became beholden to tea party extremists, the Koch brothers, and ALEC -- instead of their constituents." National Democratic Redistricting Committee
