How to Call for Progressive Candidates from Overseas

This is it.

The upcoming midterms are a do-or-die moment for America and an opportunity to elect the largest group of progressive candidates ever.

This means we can support candidates who ran primary campaigns that only took small-dollar donations from individuals like us and are not influenced by corporate and PAC money. Candidates who support Medicare for All and getting big money out of politics.

[We also urge all ProDA members to call Democrats Abroad members to send in their ballots.  All the information and materials for phoning DA members is at: www.democratsabroad.org/phonebanking]

And you may also consider making phone calls from overseas to US voters in key progressive races.

We’ve put together a helpful Last Push for Progressive GOTV - 2018 as a quick start guide. It has links for where to go.

In a nutshell: Call US Voters for Progressive Campaigns!

Overall basics:
  • Get a service where you can call to the US: Google Hangouts works well (enough) and is free to the US; Skype is also an option but you may need to pay for it.
  • Connect with a Progressive Campaign or a Close Campaign

    • Grassroots PB - ProDA has set up a calling team. Please join our Team #69 “Progressive Americans Abroad.” Several Progressive Candidates are on here including Beto O’Rouke, Ben Jealous and many more. The nice thing about this site is that it will directly link you to the login screen to get your calling details. Just follow the steps.  Grassroots PB allows you to call for some of the closest races (according to recent polls - to be taken with a grain of salt!) including:
      • Stacey Abrams, Georgia Governor, 1.5 points behind Kemp
      • Josh Harder, CA 10th, toss-up
      • Ammar Campa-Najjar, CA 50th, leaning GOP
      • Beto O'Rourke, TX Senate, 7 points behind
      • Andrew Gillum, FL Governor, 5 points ahead
      • Randy Bryce, WI 1st,  6 points behind

    • Our Revolution has the most exhaustive list of progressive candidates and you can click on the candidates image to take you to their page so that you can connect directly with each campaign.

    • Justice Democrats has a list and similar to above but you will need to search for each candidates campaign to connect calls

  • Follow their directions! As the Progressive Caucus of Democrats Abroad is not running our own phonebanking specifically for progressive candidates, you will need to follow the steps of individual campaigns. (We urge you to phone for DA, which can be more effective, since DA members usually appreciate hearing from fellow Americans abroad and will actually vote. More info at www.democratsabroad.org/phonebanking)
  • Note the time difference! All these races are on US time! Here’s a world clock if you don’t have one on your phone.

We’ve kept this VERY brief on purpose. All the sites, candidates, endorsements, close races differ considerably. How you even sign up to phonebank will be different for different candidates. We’re here to connect you and if you have problems, we’ll do our best to help, but we will need to connect you with the orgs or campaigns who are running it. Contact ProDA at [email protected]
