Checking your voter registration to make certain that it is current, correct, and that you are signed up to receive an absentee ballot by email is critical for overseas voters.
In almost every email that we send out, we remind voters to submit an FPCA through Vote From Abroad, because the Republican-controlled Florida government now cancels all absentee ballot requests after each general election. We also recommend that voters follow up with their local election office to make certain that their application was received and processed. You can check your registration online at any time:
- First, visit our Florida Voter Resource Guide. Here you will be able to find the voter ballot and registration web site for the Florida county where you vote (2nd column).
- Open the web page and enter your information as it appears on your voter registration (first name, last name, and birth date). Dates must be entered in US format, mm-dd-yyyy
- If your voter registration is not found and you're certain that you entered the information correctly, please see the "Problems" section below for suggestions. If your voter information was found, you need to look for a couple more details to make certain that you will receive your absentee ballot
- Under your name is the status of your absentee ballot request, which Florida refers to as a "mail ballot." It should look something like this:
Voter Status: Eligible to vote in
[Name of the county where you vote].
You have a standing request to receive a mail ballot for elections occurring
on or before 12/31/2026. <-- This will always be 31 December of an even numbered year.
If the message says something different, check the "Problems" section below. - Next, above your name, click the "Upcoming Elections" tab.
- Scroll down and look for the line that says, "Ballot Destination:". You should see the email address where you want to receive your ballot and notices of upcoming elections.
That's it! You'll also notice that under "Upcoming Elections" you can see the status of your ballot, "Requested", "Sent", "Received", "Counted". After you've sent your ballot, please make certain to check to make certain it has been counted!
Problems
-
The link in the Florida Voter Resource Guide didn't work: Please email us at [email protected], and make certain to let us know which county you vote in, so that we can find the current link and update the spreadsheet.
-
My voter registration was not found: Please email the DA Voter Help Desk at [email protected], and we'll help figure out what has happened. If you haven't voted in several years, it's possible that your registration was cancelled, but we'll work with you to solve the problem.

The site says, "Our office does not currently have a Vote-by-Mail all elections request on file for this voter." The Republican-controlled Florida government now cancels all absentee ballot requests (which the state of Florida calls "Vote-by-Mail") after each general election. You are registered to vote, but unless you submit a new FPCA at Vote From Abroad, you can only vote in person in your Florida county.
-
The site says "We have been unable to verify that this is your correct address. In order to become an active voter, please confirm or update your address at ..." Local election offices will sometimes try to send postal mail to voters. These mailings sometimes ask (or require!) the voter to confirm that they still wish to be registered to vote. If the mail is returned to the election office as undeliverable, or if the voter fails to respond, the voter's record is set to "inactive", and this message is displayed. You are still registered to vote, but you are at risk of having your voter registration canceled if you do not take action.
Submit an FPCA right away at Vote From Abroad, and keep checking your registration to make certain that the FPCA was received and processed. If the problem persists, the best course of action is to call the election office (yes, we know this is inconvenient, but it is the best way). You can find your election office contact information at the Vote From Abroad Florida Page. Scroll down, and near the bottom is a drop-down menu where you can select your county and find the contact information.

I don't see a "Ballot Destination" line. You are registered to vote and to receive an absentee ballot, but it will be sent by postal mail. We recommend that all overseas voters request to receive their ballot via email, as this is much faster and more reliable than overseas postal mail. You can request to receive your ballots via email simply by submitting a new FPCA at Vote From Abroad. Make certain to select to receive your ballot via "Email or Online" at the bottom of Step 2.
- I'm encountering a problem that isn't listed here. Please email the DA Voter Help Desk at [email protected], and we'll help however we can!
