VMF Artwork: “The A-10 Jet” by “Fritz”

Back once again in our Virtual Art Gallery is more terrific artwork by “Fritz,” the teenage son of Allie Diaz, a member of Democrats Abroad Spain and a proud Marine Corps veteran.

In this piece, Fritz created the image below of an A-10 aircraft, commonly called the “Warthog.” The artwork is pencil on paper, and Fritz continues to be inspired by military machinery in producing more of his drawings, both physically and digitally. Historically, the A-10 served on missions from the late 1970s through the war in Afghanistan. It provided close air support to our troops during the U.S. military response to Saddam Hussein’s invasion of Kuwait, and participated in many more campaigns. Interestingly, the front wheel landing gear is offset to the side to provide room for a 30mm Avenger autocannon, directly centered under the cockpit, giving this highly resourceful aircraft maximum firepower.
