What to do Wednesday September 16, 2026

What to Do Wednesday
Your Weekly Guide to Staying Politically Active—From Abroad

Wednesday 16 September 2026
Let's Flip the Senate!

The fight for the Senate is wide open, and overseas voters could help decide who wins.

Democrats need a net gain of four seats to take control. The clearest opportunities to flip Republican-held seats are:

  • Alaska
  • Iowa
  • Maine
  • North Carolina
  • Ohio
  • Texas

Independent election analysts now consider all six competitive. North Carolina, Maine, and Ohio have long been central to the Democratic path, while Alaska, Iowa, and Texas have expanded the map and created new possibilities.

Every vote in these states matters. So does every conversation.

Take Action Now

If you vote in one of these six states, request your ballot today at VoteFromAbroad.org. Remember to choose email delivery.

If you know anyone who votes in one of these states, contact them personally. Send a text, make a call, or write a short message:

The Senate race in your state could help determine control of Congress. Have you requested your ballot yet? You can do it at VoteFromAbroad.org.

A personal message from someone they know is far more likely to inspire action than another political post in their feed.

This Is the Moment to Request Your Ballot

States must begin transmitting requested ballots to overseas voters by September 19, 45 days before the November 3 election. Voters who selected electronic delivery should begin seeing ballots in their inboxes that weekend.

Requesting now gives you the best chance to receive, complete, and return your ballot with time to resolve any problem.

Do not delay. Request your ballot today.

Keep Sharing Last Week’s Flyers

The three Vote From Abroad flyers linked here we shared last week are still powerful organizing tools.

  • Post them on your personal social media accounts.
  • Send them directly to American friends.
  • Print copies and leave them where Americans are likely to see them.
  • Take a photo of a flyer near a recognizable local landmark and share it online.

Most importantly, post the flyers on your own social media. Your friends trust you, and your reminder may be the one that gets someone to request and return a ballot.

Six competitive Senate races. Four seats needed. One personal message could make the difference.

Request your ballot. Contact your friends. Let’s flip the Senate.

Democrat Abroad Italy Events:

DNC Vice Chairs Are Coming to Italy! Inside the Fight for 2026: An Apericena for Action

Two Vice Chairs of the Democratic National Committee are coming to Italy this month, and DA Italy is hosting them for two evenings of food, drinks, bold ideas, and real conversation.

Malcolm Kenyatta, DNC Vice Chair and Pennsylvania state representative, and Shasti Conrad, DNC Vice Chair and Chair of the Washington State Democrats, will join us to talk about why the 2026 midterms matter, how we re-engage voters on the issues they care about, and how we turn Democratic values into action, both at home and from abroad. Come with your questions.

Be a part of the conversation! These are small, intentionally intimate gatherings: only 30 places are available at each event, so please reserve early. The precise address will be shared with ticketholders, and all donors will be asked to show a US passport or passport card at the door. Both events are co-sponsored by the AAPI, Youth, and Black Caucuses.
