What to do Wednesday September 9, 2026

What to Do Wednesday
Your Weekly Guide to Staying Politically Active—From Abroad

Wednesday 9 September 2026
Put Voting on the Map!

Voting from abroad begins with knowing that you can.

Thousands of eligible U.S. citizens live in communities across Italy, and many may not realize that they can vote from overseas. This week, you can help us reach them.

Take Action Now

Download one of the Vote From Abroad flyers linked here and:

  • Print it and post it where local U.S. citizens may see it, such as a community center, university, international school, café, library, workplace, or neighborhood gathering place. Please ask permission where required.
  • Share the digital flyer on your social media.
  • Make it personal. Take a photo of the printed flyer in front of a recognizable landmark in your community and post it online.

Every flyer and every post could reach an American who might otherwise miss the opportunity to vote.

Why Now Matters

The 2026 midterm elections will determine who represents us in Congress and shape the direction of our country for the next two years. Americans living abroad have the same responsibility and the same power to participate.

If you haven't done so already, now is the time to request your overseas ballot at VoteFromAbroad.org

Official overseas ballots for the November election begin going out by email on September 19. Requesting yours now gives your local election office time to process your application and gives you the best chance to receive, complete, and return your ballot promptly.

Request it today, then help someone else do the same.

One Flyer Can Make a Difference

A flyer on a bulletin board can reach a student studying abroad. A social media post can remind an old friend. A photo from your town can inspire someone in another community to take action.

This Wednesday, help put voting on the map across Italy.

Democrat Abroad Italy Events:

DNC Vice Chairs Are Coming to Italy! Inside the Fight for 2026: An Apericena for Action

Two Vice Chairs of the Democratic National Committee are coming to Italy this month, and DA Italy is hosting them for two evenings of food, drinks, bold ideas, and real conversation.

Malcolm Kenyatta, DNC Vice Chair and Pennsylvania state representative, and Shasti Conrad, DNC Vice Chair and Chair of the Washington State Democrats, will join us to talk about why the 2026 midterms matter, how we re-engage voters on the issues they care about, and how we turn Democratic values into action, both at home and from abroad. Come with your questions.

Be a part of the conversation! These are small, intentionally intimate gatherings: only 30 places are available at each event, so please reserve early. The precise address will be shared with ticketholders, and all donors will be asked to show a US passport or passport card at the door. Both events are co-sponsored by the AAPI, Youth, and Black Caucuses.
