July Book Club: Severance by Ling Ma

For July's book club meeting, we will be discussing Severance, a science fiction novel by Ling Ma.

Perhaps a bit on the nose, the story takes place in the U.S. both before and during a zombie-flavored pandemic that seems to have originated in Shenzhen. This satiric take fuses both an Asian American and young adult perspective as the main character, Candace Chen, tries to survive in a collapsing nation.

"A satirical spin on the end times – kind of like The Office meets The Leftovers." – Estelle Tang, Elle
