You are eligible to vote from India if :

  1. You are a U.S. citizen living, working or traveling in India.
  2. You will be 18 years old on Tuesday, November 5, 2024.

Can I still vote?

This depends on your state - go to www,votefromabroad.org to check your state’s info or to confirm your registration status.

How to vote?

1. Register to vote and request a ballot.

  • Goto Vote From Abroad.
  • Select your voting state.
  • Register and/or request your ballot.
    • Complete Federal Postcard Application.
    • Request absentee ballots for all federal elections in the calendar year, including any special elections.

2. Receive and complete your ballot.

3. Return your ballot.

How to return your ballot?

If your state allows, you may be able to return your voted ballot to your local election office electronically.  You can also consider returning your ballot via an express courier service at your own expense. Ballots sent via express courier do not receive standard postmarks, so voters using this method should confirm delivery on or before November 5 prior to payment and shipment. Check your state’s voting procedures at www.votefromabroad.org for guidance.

If you have previously registered to vote and requested an absentee ballot but it has not yet arrived, some states allow voters to email or fax their voted, signed Federal Write-in Absentee Ballots to local election officials.  Review your state’s voting procedures at www.votefromabroad.org carefully for guidance.

How to send ballot or voter registration through the US Embassy/Consulate?

US Embassy/Consulate offers the ballots to be sent through diplomatic pouch. If you plan to drop your ballot off at the U.S. Embassy or consulates in India to be returned to your local election office, we recommend you do so no later than October 4.  Please ensure your ballot is addressed to your local election officials and is either placed in a postage-paid envelope or bears sufficient domestic U.S. postage.  Drop off locations and hours are as follows :
