October 18 is a Global Day of Defiance against fascism. As we witness random arrests on the streets of the USA, and the breakdown of the federal government, this is a day to stand up for and affirm everyone’s Constitutional right to the rule of law, freedom of speech, and peaceful assembly.
Democrat Abroad members are invited to grab some coffee and assemble at Starbucks Coffee on Douglas Street at 10:15am. We’ll discuss the challenge of rising authoritarianism, and how we can keep strengthening voter turnout among Americans living abroad.
At 11:00 AM those interested are invited to join the nearby No Tyrants rally (organized separately by No Kings) at the Legislative Assembly, 501 Belleville Street, Victoria, V8V 1X4.
Please note: The rally is not organized or co-sponsored by Democrats Abroad. Democrats Abroad guidelines ask that if we attend as members of Democrats Abroad, that we carry respectful ‘No Tyrants’ rather than ’No Kings’ signage.
