Time for Virginia, New Jersey, Ohio CD 11/15, and Florida CD 20 voters to start returning ballots

IMPORTANT VOTING INFORMATION for Virginia, New Jersey, Ohio CD 11/15, and Florida CD 20 voters: By now, you should have requested your ballot for your election on November 2, 2021. If you haven't requested your ballot, go to www.votefromabroad.org and click START to fill out the FPCA form - for most people it just takes a few minutes.

If you have already returned your FPCA form, your ballot should be in your email inbox this weekend. If you don't see it, contact your local election office next week and ask them to email you a blank ballot. Note that mail service from the US is experiencing new disruptions due to recent COVID-19 outbreaks in Australia, so it's best to request your blank ballot via email and not wait for your state to mail a hard copy.

Next, check your state voting guide to see what method of ballot return your state allows (postal mail-only, fax, or email) and send your completed ballot as soon as possible. Remember that mail and voting issues are still a concern, so it's best to vote electronically if you can. Don't wait to vote, in case you have to correct an error or supply extra information to your state, and remember to check back and confirm your ballot was counted.

Results of 2021 Queensland General Meeting

On Saturday 26 June with 24 proxy votes, Layne Mostyn was confirmed as the Queensland chapter chair for the 2021-23 term. The focus of the coming two years will be on doing our part as citizens overseas to mobilize the vote for the midterms and promote a popular Democratic agenda: residency based taxation, voting protections, universal healthcare, climate emergency response, eliminating gun violence, and achieving racial/gender justice.

The new chapter email is [email protected]

We will be immediately renewing our friendly monthly social get togethers every 3rd Thursday, so check our events page for the next one and please join us!

Sue Barrell elected Queensland Chapter Chair

Queensland Democrats elect Sue Barrell (centre) as Chapter Chair
Queensland had its state chapter AGM on Sunday, June 25 at the Pig n Whistle in Brisbane.  While only five people attended in person, we had many more vote remotely, and Sue Barrell was elected Chair unanimously.  We spent a couple of hours discussing the parlous state of US governance, and how we can increase both membership and voter participation for the 2018 midterm elections.  Since Queensland, unlike perhaps other states, has significant membership outside the capital city, we also discussed the formation of satellite subchapters, perhaps on the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast, and far North Queensland.  I'm sure Sue will have a lot more to say in the coming weeks and months.
Thanks to all who participated, and stay tuned -- we're energised and ready to go!
