A Grain of Hope

We’ve been through many storms before

Flooding lands bespattered shores

This tempest not to be ignored

The message stands Everyone on board

Cries of indignity no longer stilled

The earth must once again be tilled

Many marches have brought no peace

Deadly weapons no longer cease

Many dead still more to come

Justice reigns just for some

Yet true hope is not far away

We vote to live for another day

We plant seeds that need grow

For the old roots we already know

It’s as plain as day and night

Some call it simple equal rights

If we rise up banded as one

This living crop can soon be won

The clouds will again slowly lift

The raging tempest finally shift

A rainbow appearing plain to see

An unbiased destiny for you and me.
