Nov. Newsletter: In this dark time there is light.

In this dark time, there is also light.

Vice President Harris said it best: "While I concede this election, I do not concede the fight that fueled this campaign. The fight for freedom, for opportunity, for fairness, and the dignity of all people. A fight for the ideals at the heart of our nation, the ideals that reflect America at its best. That is a fight I will never give up."

However, the people have spoken and we do not like what they have said. Trump will make history as the first election denier, sexual abuser, and convicted felon to assume the office of the presidency. His cabinet appointments, thus far, seem to indicate he plans to do what he promised, and he will not be the only one in the room whose conduct will be called into question. Yet, this is not a time for despair but resistance. I encourage you to find out who your representatives are in Congress and contact them through email to make your voices heard and hold them accountable throughout this administration.

We have also had meaningful local victories in states nationwide, which will result in real, tangible, positive impacts on people’s lives and communities in state legislators, ballot initiatives, and the governor races in Washington, Delaware, and North Carolina. As always, Democrats Abroad will continue to fight for your right to vote.

Our volunteers have poured their hearts and souls into this election. We called all callable members, held open Zoom rooms, helped register new voters in partnership with the American Embassy, and answered thousands of emails. I am proud to have been a small part of this incredible organization, a part of the DAN team, and especially to have been a Delegate in Chicago supporting Kamala Harris. Thank you to all of you who pitched in to help this election year.

We are planning events for 2025 and would like to hear from you. One of the ideas is to have a Virtual Town Hall where DAN members can come together and discuss the results of the election, and what comes next.

Please let us know of any ideas you might have. Reach out to [email protected].
