Countdown to the 2020 Democratic National Convention (German version below)
Delegates Abroad Cast their Votes for the Democratic Presidential Candidate and Prepare for the Convention
Washington, D.C., August 11, 2020
Across the US and around the world, state parties and delegates are gearing up to participate in this year’s Democratic National Convention (DNC) online and at home. Delegates from Democrats Abroad are also joining in - rallying together on zoom calls and downloading their ballots as they prepare to attend the Democratic Party’s first ever online convention in locations that stretch from Kathmandu to Kigali.
Julia Bryan, the Global Chair of Democrats Abroad and DA Delegation Chair notes, “I’m proud to lead our delegation this year as we come together with our fellow state parties to nominate our Democratic Presidential candidate. I’m also proud to be part of a party that has responded so mindfully to the pandemic and created an event that is both safe and extremely interactive for our delegates.

The Democratic party includes the 50 states, DC, the territories - and Democrats Abroad (DA) - a unique state party that represents the 9 million Americans who live outside the United States. DA is represented by 24 delegates who will be logging on from all over the world. The delegation includes three young Americans who live in Germany and are proud to represent DA’s progressive values at the Democratic National Convention and are passionate about the issues important to Americans living abroad.
Typically a massive, week-long event with tens of thousands of Democrats in attendance, the covid crisis has made this year’s convention radically different, creating an opportunity for unprecedented public engagement. This year’s convention will feature online caucus and council meetings, and a two hour program of speeches and celebration each night (Central Time). Überall in den USA und auf der ganzen Welt bereiten sich Staatsparteien und Delegierte darauf vor, an der diesjährigen Democratic National Convention (DNC) online und zu Hause teilzunehmen. Auch Delegierte von Democrats Abroad (DA) nehmen daran teil - sie versammeln sich auf Zoom-Anrufen und laden ihre Stimmzettel herunter, während sie sich auf die Teilnahme am ersten Online-Kongress der Demokratischen Partei vorbereiten, der sich von Kathmandu bis Kigali erstreckt.
Julia Bryan, die globale Vorsitzende der Democrats Abroad und Vorsitzende der DA-Delegation, stellt fest: "Ich bin stolz darauf, unsere Delegation in diesem Jahr zu leiten, wenn wir mit den anderen Staatsparteien zusammenkommen, um unseren demokratischen Präsidentschaftskandidaten zu nominieren. Ich bin auch stolz darauf, Teil einer Partei zu sein, die so aufmerksam auf die Pandemie reagiert und eine Veranstaltung geschaffen hat, die sowohl sicher als auch äußerst interaktiv für unsere Delegierten ist.

Auf dem diesjährigen Kongress werden Online-Fraktions- und Ratssitzungen sowie ein zweistündiges Programm mit Reden und Feierlichkeiten jeden Abend (Central Time) angeboten.
