On January 21, 2018, Democrats Abroad Germany will be marching to celebrate the anniversary of the Women's March on Washington in 2017, when over six million women and men marched in over 600 cities around the world, including Berlin, Washington, London, New York, and many cities in Germany.

“For Democrats Abroad, this is a ‘march to the ballot box,’ channeling the energy and activism of protest into civic engagement, political representation, and electoral victories in 2018. As we’ve already seen in the special elections of 2017, our votes make a difference in electing more women and diverse candidates to office,” said Owen Jappen, chair of Democrats Abroad Germany. “We, as Americans living abroad, have not stopped fighting for our values, for equality, for justice, for kindness, and for decency!”

Democrats Abroad chapters throughout Germany will join local progressive, feminist, and women’s associations to advance equality, justice, freedom, and inclusion. In addition to affirming women’s rights, the participants are also marching to support human rights, religious freedom, environmental protection, LGBT rights, and most importantly, to protect the right of every eligible citizen to vote in elections and to have their vote count when choosing political leaders.
