Democracy Talks - Chris Glaisek, Chief Planning and Design Officer, Waterfront Toronto
Join Democrats Abroad Canada and the new Democrats Abroad Environment and Climate Crisis Council (ECCC) for the next installment of our Democracy Talks Speaker Series. In honour of Earth day and the launch of the ECCC, we will be hearing from Chris Glaisek, the Chief Planning and Design Officer at Waterfront Toronto, where he is responsible for precinct planning and design in the 2,000-acre Designated Waterfront Area. Chris will talk to us about Building a Resilient and Sustainable City: Lessons from Waterfront Toronto. Following the talk, DA Toronto Member, founding member of the ECCC, and Assistant Professor of Architecture Shannon Bassett will lead a discussion with Chris. Shannon is a Canadian-American architectural and urban designer. Her research, teaching, writing and practice operate at the intersection(s) of architecture, urban design and landscape ecology. |
Chris is a strong advocate for design excellence and strives to achieve high standards in development of new parks, buildings, streetscapes and infrastructure. Under Chris's stewardship, Waterfront Toronto has received more than 80 national and international design awards and nominations for its master plans, parks, and streetscape designs. Chris lectures regularly on the history and development of the waterfront.
