Vote in the California Primary Election - June 7, 2022

CALIFORNIA IS HOLDING ITS PRIMARY ON JUNE 7– MAKE SURE YOUR VOICE IS HEARD!

What elections are there in California? What am I voting for?

California will hold its Primary on June 7 for U.S. Representatives as well as for Governor (again!), State Representatives, State Senators, and State Supreme Court.

California has a “Top 2” Primary, in which all candidates from all parties are listed on the Primary ballot. And the top 2 finishers in each race, regardless of party, will go on to the November 8, 2022 General Election. We must turn out for the Primary to make sure Democrats advance to the November election!

All California overseas votes can vote in these crucial races.

Please vote your full ballot –  state elections are hugely important! State government is responsible for voting and state policies regarding climate change, education, health insurance, net neutrality, student loans, and more affect us no matter where we go around the world.

1) Register to Vote and Request Your Ballot Today

It's easy to request your ballot. And your ballot request covers all elections in 2022, so send the form in now and ensure your ballot for the June 7th Primary and for the November 8th General election.

Go to www.votefromabroad.org and follow the prompts to fill out the form to request your ballot, the Federal Post Card Application form (FPCA). (If needed, it will also serve as a voter registration.) To ensure you receive your ballot in time, please check the box on the FPCA to have your blank ballot sent to you by “Email/Online” or “Fax”.

  • If you are registered to vote, you should receive a ballot automatically, but it’s a good idea to send in an FPCA to confirm your status, and you must send one in if you need to update your information. You can send in your FPCA by email (recommended) or fax or mail and it must be received by May 31, 2022.

  • If you are NOT registered to vote, you can submit your FPCA by fax or mail (email is not accepted).
    • If you send it in by fax, your FPCA must be received by May 23, 2022.
    • If you mail in your FPCA, it must be postmarked by May 23, 2022.

We recommend that you use fax to avoid mail delays. For information about returning your FPCA by fax even if you don’t have access to a fax machine, please see FAQs #BAL-6 & BAL-7.

2) When You Get Your Ballot, Fill It Out and Send It Back Right Away

Ballots will start going out on April 23, 2022. If you asked for your ballot by email, be sure to check your spam folder and any secondary inboxes.

When you get your ballot, fill it out and send it back right away.

We recommend you return your ballot by fax to make sure your ballot gets to California by the deadline. Your ballot must be received in California by June 7, 2022, at 8pm California time.

For information about returning your FPCA by fax even if you don’t have access to a fax machine, please see FAQs #BAL-6 & BAL-7.

If you return your ballot by mail, it must be postmarked no later than June 7, 2022 AND it also must be received in California by June 14, 2022.
