Democrats Abroad Sweden proudly joined the Stockholm Pride parade Saturday 2 August, marching just behind the float of the former US ambassador to Sweden in support of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, questioning, intersex and asexual people who continue to find their basic rights under threat back in the US and around the world. Americans who joined the crowds thronging along either side of the parade route shouted out that they had voted from Sweden in last autumn's elections. The Swedish press estimates that 50,000 marched with the parade, while half a million spectators -- in a country of ten and a half million inhabitants -- lined the streets to watch. It truly was a great day to be LGBTQ or an ally.
