May Meeting: Organized Labor's Role in the U.S. Elections

Labor groups have historically played an important role in Democratic and progressive politics. With attacks on unions and workers' rights over the years, the role of unions in electoral politics has had to change as well.

Join Democrats Abroad Berlin for our May meeting as we discuss the influence of labor unions in presidential elections, and in the primary process in particular.

We're excited to welcome special guest Thomas J. Adams who will offer his take on the modern state of labor organizing in the United States in the context of the 2020 election.

Thomas J. Adams is Senior Lecturer in History and American Studies at the University of Sydney and Academic Director of Sydney's United States Studies Centre as well as a Fellow at re:work, the International Research Center for Work and Lifecyle in Global History at Humboldt University, Berlin. His research focuses on the history of American labor, political economy, and social movements as well as New Orleans.
