Let’s lift our glasses to a blue wave this November! On September 8, 2020, we’ll be hosting a virtual wine tasting, led by Democrats Abroad member & wine consultant Aimee Male.
Your donation to attend this special event will support Democrats Abroad’s outreach to Americans living in Germany this election year: we’re working hard to increase voter turnout in this incredibly important election.
About Progressive Palates
Intimidated by the wine aisle at the grocery store? Not sure which wines you like, or how to pick a bottle for a given occasion? This introduction to wine tasting is for you! Our resident expert Aimee will go over the fundamentals of wine tasting in a short presentation, and then we’ll break up into smaller groups to taste and talk about what each person is tasting at home.
Bring Your Own Wine
Since this is an online event, please pick up a favorite bottle the next time you’re shopping. If you’re just getting one bottle, Aimee suggests a red wine -- either a Cabernet Sauvignon or a Pinot Noir. If you prefer white wines but don’t have a regular favorite, seek out a Sauvignon Blanc or Riesling. Keep it reasonable: a 10€ bottle (or less) is more than adequate.
You must register on this page to attend Democrats Abroad’s Progressive Palates fundraiser. We are asking each attendee to donate at least 10€ (more if you can, every bit helps in outreach) to participate.
Your donation supports Democrats Abroad's initiatives to get out the vote in Germany. For example, it helps pay for a postal mailing to all members in Germany and ad campaigns on social media to remind Americans abroad to request and return absentee ballots.
Details on how to donate are also on our website and in the email confirmation once you register.
* Please note that Democrats Abroad and Democrats Abroad Germany can only accept donations from U.S. citizens and green card holders. If you have a German bank account, the account must be in the name of a U.S. citizen.

Note (Verwendungszweck): Wine Tasting + Your Name
Originally from San Francisco, Aimee has worked in the wine world for more than 20 years -- from selling wines for U.S. retail stores, to making wine in the south of France and scouting new winemaking talents in Europe to bring to consumers in the United States. Her many experiences have taught her that there’s always something more to learn! Currently a marketing manager for a major U.S. wine importer and a diploma candidate with the Wine & Spirits Education Trust based in London, she feels that today, still too much information about wine choices is unnecessarily complicated. By better understanding the mechanics of taste -- how and why we taste what we do in a glass of wine -- anyone can be a wine “expert.” Aimee has lived in Berlin with her partner since 2006.
