2018: Thousands of votes. 2022: We stayed home. 2026: Let’s do this.

Return your ballot. Fax it early. Nov 3 is the deadline.

This is our last newsletter before the election. Florida accepts overseas ballots by fax or online/E-fax service, and we recommend fax over mail because postal delivery is unpredictable. Fax lines get busy near election day, so send yours as early as you can.

Why your vote decides Florida:

In 2018, the Governor, U.S. Senate, and Agriculture Commissioner races were each decided by a few thousand votes. In 2022, DeSantis and Rubio won by over a million each. Much of the difference was Democrats who didn't vote.

At least 90,000 Florida voters live overseas, and nearly half are Democrats. Returned ballots can decide races. Unreturned ballots can't. Please do not sit this one out.

Vote the full ballot!

Book bans, bathroom bans, and anti-climate policies are decided in county commissions and school boards, not just Congress. Your Florida county is your voting residence, so those decisions are yours too.

Vote for every Democrat on your ballot.

Vote NO on all three constitutional amendments.

The Republican-controlled Legislature put three amendments on the ballot. DA strongly recommends that you vote NO on each:

  • Amendment 1: Rainy-day fund expansion (aka Governor's slush fund)
  • Amendment 2: Agriculture tax limits (mostly for big corporations)
  • Amendment 3: Property tax elimination (defunding local government services)

You can find more details about the amendments on this DA Florida News page.

Confirm your ballot is counted!

After faxing, check your county elections website for your ballot’s status. Ballots sent by fax or online/E-fax service take a couple of days to be entered, and delays grow as election day nears and ballot returns increase. Another reason to send yours early. Find your county's site in the  Florida Voter Resource Guide

Pass it on.

What's next?

We'll be back after the election, hopefully with good news. Big changes to Florida election rules are coming in 2027-28, and DA will elect new leadership in 2027. We'll guide you through both.

Thank you for voting and for supporting Democrats Abroad.

In solidarity,

Scott Hoffman, DA Florida Home State Coordinator

P.S. Fax your ballot, by fax machine or online/E-fax service, this week, not on Nov 2. Busy lines are the most avoidable way to lose a vote. How to fax your ballot:  https://www.votefromabroad.org/faqs/return-ballot-fax
