Statement from the VMF Chair Regarding the Establishment of a VMF Caucus within DA Italy

Melbourne, Australia—Michael Ramos, Marine Corps Veteran and Chair of the Democrats Abroad Global Veterans and Military Families (VMF) Caucus, recently offered remarks in response to the newly-created VMF Caucus within Democrats Abroad Italy.

“With major U.S. military installations and two American cemeteries for our fallen Service Members who perished in World War II, it was only natural for Democrats Abroad members in Italy to form a VMF Caucus at some point. As activists, our members know that every year is important when it comes to things like honoring Veterans, helping register military-connected voters, and collaborating with others on advocacy issues that affect U.S. citizens living abroad. I’m honestly excited at the volunteer potential there, and I look forward to seeing our VMF colleagues in Italy thrive for years to come.”

The first-ever Chair of the new Caucus, Michelle Dallocchio—a U.S. Army combat veteran and resident of Milan—provided additional remarks:

“We are honored to welcome the launch of the Veterans and Military Families Caucus in Italy - a gathering place for Veterans, active duty Service Members, and their families, national security, Department of Defense-affiliated civilians, and strong allies. Our mission is to empower the community to engage in policy advocacy and register to vote, in addition to building a supportive environment that amplifies their voices.”

U.S. citizens living abroad, both civilian and military, are highly encouraged to check your voter registration status and request your ballot for any upcoming elections in your home voting state that you are eligible to vote in.

The VMF Caucus, proudly consisting of veterans, service members, military family members, Department of War (DoW) (formerly Department of Defense, or DoD) civilians, and strong allies of veterans and military family causes, has a membership of over 1,400 members located in dozens of countries.
