The Guns of August by historian Barbara W. Tuchman is considered a brilliant piece of military history. In it, She recreates the first month of WWI, which determined the course of the war. Modern Library has selected it as one of the best nonfiction books of all time. Presidio Press, 2005, wherever books are sold.
