In response to President Donald Trump’s remarks over social media calling for the death of U.S. Senator Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.), the Democrats Abroad Global Veterans and Military Families (VMF) Caucus condemns in the strongest terms possible his inappropriate commentary.
Donald Trump continues to prove he is a flat-out disgrace as a public official. It is outright inexcusable for him to make a threatening statement against Mark Kelly – a highly-decorated veteran, astronaut, U.S. Senator, and spouse to a nearly assassinated Member of Congress. Recent comments by Sen. Kelly and other Democratic lawmakers simply reiterated that it is a servicemember’s duty not to obey illegal orders—this is current law. VMF demands nothing less than a public apology from the President for his outrageous remarks.
It is unconscionable that a sitting U.S. president would call for violence against fellow U.S. citizens. VMF opposes any and all violence in response to Americans having political differences in opinions.
