On November 10, 2025, the United States Marine Corps will celebrate 250 years of being a part of America’s Armed Forces. Founded at Tun Tavern in Philadelphia in 1775, the Marines have since been engaged in combat, training, and humanitarian missions worldwide, including guarding America’s many embassies. With involvement in aviation, cyber security, amphibious attack strategies and more, the Marines regularly adapt, improvise, and overcome to meet the challenges of the 21st Century.
The Democrats Abroad Global Veterans and Military Families (VMF) Caucus is proud to recognize November 10th in honor of our past and present Marines, including the family members who also make countless sacrifices on behalf of their Marines and our nation. To the Marine Corps, we say, “Ooh Rah!”

If your time permits, VMF encourages participation in activities supporting the U.S. Marines, Marine veterans, and the military-connected community. Activities would include actions like sending a care package to a Marine deployed at seas or stationed overseas, volunteering to perform voter registrations, joining as a member (or auxiliary member) of a veterans service organization, calling someone you know as a “buddy check” on how their mental health is holding up (to prevent veteran suicide), or even making a generous donation to the VMF Caucus.
Once again, the VMF Caucus encourages all Americans to thank the Marines in their life for their service, and we wish for nothing but the best for the United States Marine Corps in having set the standard of professionalism for the past 250 years – Semper Fi!
U.S. citizens living abroad, both civilian and military, are highly encouraged to check your voter registration status and request your ballot for any upcoming elections in your home voting state that you are eligible to vote in.
The Global VMF Caucus, proudly consisting of veterans, military family members, Department of War (DoW) (formerly Department of Defense, or DoD) civilians, and strong allies of veterans and military family causes, has a membership of over 1,400 members located in dozens of countries.
