Democrats Abroad Global Presidential Primary (GPP)

• You can vote in the Democrats Abroad GLOBAL PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY!

From March 5 -12, you can cast your primary vote for President in person or by email/mail with Democrats Abroad (details HERE). Check our 2024 Global Presidential Primary Voting Centers page for more information. Participating in the Global Presidential Primary shows our U.S. politicians how important elections are to U.S. citizens living abroad. 

Important: You may only vote for President in one Primary election – either in the Democrats Abroad Global Presidential Primary OR the April 2nd Wisconsin Presidential Primary.

• Vote in the August Wisconsin Primary for U.S. Senate and House
  

NOTE: WI is holding its state Presidential Primary on April 2nd, in addition to the August Primary for all other Federal races (U.S. Senate and House). Regardless of which Primary you choose to vote in for President, you can vote the rest of the Primary ballot in August.

WI Voting Information

Read through the following information carefully to help you navigate the process of voting from abroad. If you need assistance, please write to [email protected] or [email protected]. 

Ballot Request/Registration Information

★ BALLOT REQUEST: You must request your ballots EVERY calendar year in which you wish to vote using the Federal Post Card Application (FPCA), even if you are already registered. Do this today at Vote from Abroad!

	Send in your FPCA early in the year to avoid missing deadlines (see below)! The FPCA doubles as voter registration if you aren’t already registered.
	Request to have your ballot sent to you via email to avoid postal delays.  It will arrive 45 days before the election, so send in your request early!

Important tips to ensure your ballot request is accepted!

	EMAIL your FPCA to your Municipal Clerk so you can get your ballot without delay!
	NEW REGISTRATION: New registrations must be sent by postal mail with a wet-ink signature Check HERE to see if you are registered to vote You can email a picture/scan of your FPCA in order to receive your ballot in a timely manner, but you must still send in the signed hard copy
	Please DO NOT use the in-state Wisconsin absentee voter registration - your voting rights are protected by Federal law, but only if you fill out the FPCA!

★ INTENT TO RETURN: Wisconsin voters living abroad must indicate on the FPCA form whether or not they “Intend to return” to WI.

• You will only be sent a FULL ballot (including State and Local elections) if you select that you “Intend to return” - this could be at any point in the future and does not require a set date. Please email [email protected] if you have any questions!
  
  
• If you select that your “Return is uncertain” or that you have "Never lived in the U.S." then your ballot will include FEDERAL races only - also crucial this year!

Ballot Return Instructions

	You must RETURN your overseas absentee ballot by POSTAL MAIL. It must arrive in your municipal clerk’s office by Election Day.
	Late arrival is the #1 reason ballots are not counted, so mail yours back right away!
	Be sure to sign where instructed before mailing back your ballot! Fill out and include the official absentee ballot application/ certification, making sure the signature matches your FPCA. Your official absentee ballot application/certification must be signed by a witness, who must be over 18 years of age, but does NOT have to be a U.S. citizen.
	You can also use the diplomatic pouch (Find your local consulate information here) or a private courier service (such as UPS or DHL) to send back ballots. Family members can share a courier envelope if they have the same WI voting address. If using a courier service, then place the sealed Carrier Envelope into the courier envelope as if it were a mailbox. Some carriers offer discounts for mailing ballots so be sure to ask! NEW as of 2024: Ballots CAN be returned by members of the same family in the same private courier envelope.

Dates and Deadlines for 2024 Elections in Wisconsin

Request ballots for the whole calendar year! 

• First time WI voters must PRINT and SIGN their FPCA and return by POSTAL MAIL

Wisconsin Primary Election - Tuesday, February 20th

Select candidates for the Spring Election in April. Candidates include school board, county supervisors and judges. Only voters who 'Intend to Return' to WI are eligible. 

• Check your Email/spam folder
• Contact your Municipal Clerk if you don’t receive your ballot!
• Send your ballot back ASAP by postal mail or courier. It is recommended all voters submitting ballots for the February 20th primary use a courier service.
• Ballots must be received on February 20th at 8:00 PM Central US.
