    Look Up! ECCC Launch Event

Democrats Abroad new Environment and Climate Crisis Council (ECCC) cordially invites you to our inaugural event on Sunday, January 23, 2022, at 9:00 AM US Eastern Time / 3:00 PM Central European Time.

Climate change, environmental degradation, and diversity loss are currently existential problems facing the US and every nation on this fragile planet. The Democratic Party and Democrats Abroad are harnessing efforts to shape and advocate for policies and solutions to meet these challenges, with a focus on environmental justice.

We are honored to have the Chair and founder of the Democratic National Committee’s Environment and Climate Crisis Council, Michelle Delgado Deatrick, to speak at this first event and help shepherd us on our journey.

Additionally, we will discuss the structure of the organization and how we are moving forward. Everyone will have the opportunity to go into breakout rooms for a discussion. The ECCC advocates for bold climate and environmental policies and solutions within the global Democratic community. We would like to engage each of you in volunteering to augment our collective power.

RSVP today for the official launch of our council and the opportunity to learn more about what we do and how YOU can help!

To submit questions in advance, please email: [email protected]

Please support our fledgling council and efforts to get out a green Democratic vote by donating.

    About Our Guest Speaker:

Michelle Deatrick is a progressive activist, policy analyst, organizer, and writer, with a strong background in electoral campaigns, community organizing, coalition building, and volunteer recruitment and capacity building. She is an outspoken advocate for the environment and economic, racial, and gender justice--and their intersection.

Ms. Deatrick has taught at the middle through college levels and is an elected leader, who flipped a 3-term rural red seat to blue (Vice-Chair of the Washtenaw County Commission). She was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Kenya and a delegate to the regional labor federation. While serving as County Commissioner, Deatrick led measures resulting in the County being the first in the Midwest to sign on to the County Climate Coalition. She also wrote and succeeded in passing a resolution founding the County's first environmental council, with the mission of achieving net carbon neutrality for the county. Michelle is also an internationally honored and published poet and fiction writer. She was Chair of the Ann Arbor Women's March and is a farmer.

    Help DA Update Its Website!

    $2,970.00 raised
    GOAL: $30,000.00

Having a strong digital presence will be more important than ever for finding and mobilizing voters abroad for critical races in 2022. That’s why Democrats Abroad has prioritized redesigning its website (www.democratsabroad.org) in the first quarter of 2022.

At the top of the to-do list is making our website more engaging, accessible, and user-friendly -- something we know needs to be done, but which comes with a price tag of $30,000. Please help us in this longer-term investment so that we can better attract and support our online visitors -- and in turn convert site visits into activism and votes.

    Make "Good Trouble"

    and Save Our Democracy!

A fundraiser in celebration of the life and work of the late Georgia Congressman and Civil Rights leader, John R. Lewis.

    john_lewis_selma_1965.1c.jpg

Democrats Abroad is commemorating Congressman John Lewis with two online screenings of the documentary "John Lewis - Get in the Way" on July 11, various actions days after Congress resumes legislative business, and a Forum on July 17, the one-year anniversary of his passing.

Often described as the conscience of the Congress, John Lewis was a friend to Democrats Abroad. To raise funds for DA’s GOTV efforts, we ask everyone—whether you attend or not—to donate $19.65—or for those who wish to be a Gold Star Supporter, $80 representing the 80 years of John Lewis’ extraordinary, courageous life.

Please join Democrats Abroad to honor the memory of John Lewis and carry forward the flame of his dedication to voting rights for all.

    Kendra Borgen's 2021 Birthday Fundraiser

Having volunteered in politics since I was a teenager I have found a wonderful home within Democrats Abroad – an all volunteer organization.

We run on blood, sweat, tears, & donations!

During my time in Democrats Abroad leadership I’ve noticed how expensive it is to be involved. Going to regional and global meetings is fundamental in getting good work done and is important and instrumental in team building. However, it comes at each individual’s own expense.

I believe everyone should be able to volunteer at the highest level and want to help keep these meetings accessible to people, who may not be as financially flexible, by fundraising for Democrats Abroad Travel Fund.

I had hoped to spend my 40th Birthday in an exotic location but luckily I’m in Amsterdam and you can help me celebrate my 40th birthday virtually. Please help me reach my fundraising goal: $2021 in 2021

Got $40 for my 40th? – Or even $4, or $400 if you’re so inclined –  hit that donate button.

    KB_DA.jpg

I cannot wait until we can celebrate in person together again.

    Thanks in advance!!!

    Candice Kerestan's 2021 Birthday Fundraiser

    Candice-Kerestan-DAG2020.3c.jpg

As many of you know, Democrats Abroad has been a big part of my life since I moved to Germany seven(!) years ago, and it’s remarkable what the organization has accomplished in that time! This past election cycle, we engaged Americans abroad like never before and delivered decisive votes in races across the United States.

But as they say, “after the election is before the election”, and it’s important to me that we continue setting up Democrats for success in 2022. As I start this next year of my life, I invite you to join me in making a contribution to Democrats Abroad, an organization near and dear to me.

D4D_Ballot_Week.pngDialing for Democracy is a calling marathon
    and global Democrats Abroad fundraiser.

To win in November, we need to increase voter participation from abroad, which means making sure that overseas voters receive their ballots by September 19 (date mandated by federal law) and that they are sent back to the United States on time.

Given the Trump Administration's relentless attempts to weaken a fundamental pillar of our democracy — voting — we can't take any risks this year when it comes to our ballots. [Mobile device users, please scroll down to donate!]

Generous sponsors like yourself will help Democrats Abroad reach all members from September 22-24, shortly after ballots have been sent, to confirm that they've received theirs, and inform them on how to promptly return them to their respective voting jurisdictions.

DONORS: If you are sponsoring a specific caller, BEFORE you select an amount, write the caller's name in the box at left!

    Donate $50 and you’re sponsoring 200 calls!

    $250—1000 calls   $500—2000 calls   $1000—4000 calls

Democrats Abroad will be making 100,000s of calls this fall, and your contribution will help make this outreach possible.

Thank you! We appreciate your support!

Don’t forget to check in on how the calls are going on Facebook Live on September 24 on the DA Germany Facebook page.

    Global Pub Quiz Fun(draiser)

    Online-DAGlobalPubQuiz-NL.jpeg

We're looking forward to meeting your team -- or matching you with other Democrats around the world.

For each round we'll send out a google form for you to fill in the answers. Volunteers will grade each round and the winning team(s) will receive never-ending fame and fortune.*

Ninety percent of the funds raised from this event will go directly to GOTV. Did you know that just $5 USD can reach 125 voters?

The other ten percent will go to DA's travel fund. As a young-ish volunteer without disposable income I can tell you the #1 issue with getting involved at a higher level of commitment is being unable to afford to travel to the regional and global meetings. It's important to show up in person as it helps build relationships we need to keep up the good work. We want to have a big tent party and that perhaps means helping our younger or income-sensitive volunteers to be part of the organization.

Date: Saturday May 30th  |  Where: RSVP for ZOOM link!
Quiz Start: 7:30pm (CEST / Paris time)

For any questions about Democrats Abroad Pub Quiz, please contact DANL's Andrew Tucker: [email protected]

You can help by making a donation for this great event, so reserve your place as soon as possible!
