Press release: Democrats Abroad Barcelona Election Night Virtual Party


FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: November 1, 2020

The press is welcome to enter the Zoom event at 11pm and will be conducted to a Press Break Out Room where their questions will be answered by Democrats Abroad Representatives. After the 20 minute Press Session, members of the press are invited to join us for the rest of the party program.

The Zoom link for the event will be provided by Democrats Abroad to press members who RSVP via email to [email protected] identifying themselves clearly as Press, Name of journalist, and Name of Newspaper, Radio, etc. 

A DIFFERENT KIND OF AMERICAN PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION PARTY, for a different kind of year

For Americans in Barcelona, the night of November 3rd promises to be a nail biter. Democrats Abroad Barcelona has organized a far more entertaining way to spend the evening than worrying at home alone. From 8:30PM-2:.30AM (CET) the 2020 ELECTION NIGHT VIRTUAL PARTY, via ZOOM, will feature guest speakers with timely relevant topics and Q&A, poetry, music, videos and US-based news livestreams.

DA Barcelona’s traditional election night party is meant to be fun. The 2020 virtual event, hosted by Matt Murtha and Rich Kurtzman, and drinks being mixed by our US bartender, Sarah Truckey for participants to concoct at home.

A Round Table of young people discussing the most important issues for their futures. Many interesting speakers topics include Tools for Tending to Your Mental Healthy During a Pandemic and Political Stress (Dr. Connie Capdevila Brophy), Political Party topics such as Embracing the Changing Face of the (Now/Future) Democratic Party (Lucas Cavazo) and How to Talk with Disappointed Republicans (Victor Horcasitas), Julia Schweitert Collazo (NY) will tell of the story behind the first memoir of a separated mother, The Book of Rosy/El Libro de Rosy. Former US poet Laureate Billy Collins will read from his book Whale Day and other poems. Akilah Ensley, founder of Evictus Strategy Group, a coalition of black women political consultants who manage campaigns for various candidates.

Entertainment throughout will be provided by singers Carrie Lewis, Gwen Perry and Tori Sparks and pianist, Bobby Mitchell.
