On Saturday, August 26th, the Democrats Abroad Sweden Skåne Chapter will hold its Annual General Meeting with Chapter Elections and a Meet & Greet with Sweden national officers including our Chair, Cassandra Engeman joining us from Uppsala!
This meeting is an essential part of continuing DA’s primary goal -- helping Democrats vote from abroad. Please support our efforts with your participation. Click HERE to RSVP for the Meeting!
During the meeting, we will nominate and elect Skåne Chapter members to the offices of Chair and Secretary for the 2023-2025 office period. We are currently looking for members who would like to run for these offices. If you are interested or have questions, please send an email to [email protected].
Requirements to be Nominated for Office:
- Be a member of Democrats Abroad Sweden and residency in Skåne
- Completion of a signed Confidentiality Agreement (if not in place, may be signed with result of election win)
Chapter Chair Responsibilities: Chapter Chairs are the leading organizers for Chapters within a Country Committee, and coordinate local activities and events to help get out the vote from abroad. Chapter Chairs also are typically spokespersons for the press, and are ex officio members of the DA Sweden Executive Committee with full voting privileges.
Chapter Secretary Responsibilities:
Chapter Secretaries assist with administrative functions for Chapters, such as keeping a Chapter’s member database, posting updates on our webpage (including news and events pages), recording Chapter meeting minutes and sending emails to members about events.
From our DA Sweden Bylaws:
A chapter must have at least two officers who between them manage the functions of Chapter Chair and Chapter Secretary. Chapter officers sit for the same terms as Executive Committee officers and must be elected at a chapter general meeting.
Skåne is one of Sweden’s three chapters, in addition to Stockholm/Uppsala and Western Sweden.

In 2020, Sweden hosted a dozen voting events, with two being here in Skåne where Americans abroad cast their Primary ballots in-person! These voting centers would not have been possible without our amazing volunteers.
