June is lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBTQ) Pride month to honor the 1969 Stonewall riots and works to achieve equal justice and equal opportunity for LGBTQ community. In June of 1969, patrons and supporters of the Stonewall Inn in New York City staged an uprising to resist the police harassment and persecution to which LGBT Americans were commonly subjected. This uprising marks the beginning of a movement to outlaw discriminatory laws and practices against LGBT Americans. 2019 marks the 50th anniversary of the June 1969 Stonewall Riots.
To show our support, the Frankfurt Chapter and the Wiesbaden-Mainz Chapter plans to walk in the CSD Parade in Frankfurt. To gear up for walking in the parade we would like to organize a poster making get-together.
Further details will follow. Please RSVP to the event if you’re interested in attending.
