Message from the Chair:
While most of us are already thinking about the federal elections in 2024, there are important statewide elections this year. If you vote in Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania Rhode Island, Utah, or Virginia, please request a ballot to vote by going to VoteFromAbroad.org. These are critical elections if you vote in these states and intend to return to the US. In Ohio, for example, voter will vote on a measure to to codify abortion rights in the state’s constitution. If you need help, there are live Zoom sessions to support you and answer questions. Otherwise, feel free to reach to me directly.

Inside DA Austria:
Will you be the difference in 2024?
For the 2024 Global Presidential Primary (GPP) next March, Democrats Abroad Austria will be running Voting Events in several cities around the country. If you have the time, we NEED VOLUNTEERS to help register voters and to remind those who are already registered to request their ballots. Be like Taylor Swift and help Democrats Abroad get out the vote!
Democrats Abroad had a significant impact in the 2020 election, providing the votes that put the Biden/Harris ticket over the top in Georgia, Arizona, and Wisconsin. To ensure continued Democratic majorities in the House and Senate, we’re determined to mobilize for the upcoming elections. The overseas vote is proven to be the margin of victory in close elections. Get involved – you can BE THE DIFFERENCE!
Database Manager Found!
Thank you Bill for taking over the important work of our database management and updates. Have you moved recently? Be sure to go to your account settings at www.democratsabroad.org and update any changes to your address, phone number, or email. Bill will appreciate it!
Youth Outreach Person Needed!
Voters under 35 will be critical to electing Democrats up and down the ballot in 2024. Hundreds of young Americans either live or study in Austria and we want to ensure their voices, concerns, and passions are heard. Help us engage the youth vote in Austria! Find out what you can do as DAAT’s Youth Coordinator. Write Richard at [email protected] to find out more.

Election News:
Critical 2023 Races
Kentucky's highly popular Democratic Governor, Andy Beshears, is running for re-election on November 7. Keeping a Democrat in charge of this red state is a high priority!
Louisiana’s current Democratic Governor, John Bel Edwards, is term-limited and can’t run again, but all state offices are up for election, including both houses in the Louisiana State Legislature. Louisiana’s Primary election is on October 14 – if any candidate for an office doesn’t get over 50% of the vote, then the top 2 will go to a General Election on November 18.
Mississippi’s highly unpopular Republican Governor, Tate Reeves, is running for re-election and all state offices are up for election, including both houses of the Mississippi State Legislature. Democratic turnout will be crucial to making changes in this ruby-red state.
If you or anyone you know are from one of these states, be sure to go to votefromabroad.org today and request your ballot for November.
Talking Points – Real Progress
Here are a few talking points for when someone asks you what real results Biden has accomplished: Job Report shows big September gain; Pharmaceutical companies agree to negotiate drug prices; Biden cancels $9 billion in student loan debt for those who qualify.

Wine tasting in Grinzing
A big thanks to all who joined our wine tasting tour and hike to Grinzing. Andy Nash picked an exceptional winery for us to visit, Buschenschrank in Residence, a pop-up ‘heuriger’ with wines by Jutta Ambrositsch. They are open most weekends in October and it is highly worth a visit. Thanks to Harold Otto for serving us as our tour guide from Cobenzl to Grinzing, and all who came out and made our fundraiser a success.
Thank you for reading the October Newsletter!
