Important Info for FL Voters

FL Abroad August Newsletter

If Florida voters do not request a ballot this year, they will not receive one!

If you have not requested your 2024 overseas absentee ballot, do not wait any longer. The Republican-controlled Florida Legislature canceled all absentee ballot requests after the 2022 General Election.

Go to Vote From Abroad to request your ballot right away by filling out the Federal Post Card Application (FPCA). Fewer than 20% of DA members voting in Florida have submitted an FPCA for 2024.

All Florida voters living abroad must submit an FPCA this year to request their absentee ballot. Read more about the changes in the law here.

Kamala Harris can win Florida’s 30 Electoral College Votes!

A recent poll shows that Harris trails Trump in Florida by only 2 points among likely voters, with a 3% margin of error. Now, more than ever, you must be registered and have requested your absentee ballot. Read the full story about the polling here.

Florida Primary Results are now in

Debbie Murcasel-Powell (website here) won the Democratic primary and now needs our help to defeat Rick Scott for the US Senate! The US Senate race will appear near the top of the Florida ballot, right under the Presidential race.

Rick Scott wants to ban abortion nation-wide, wants to end Social Security, denies climate change, and voted against providing benefits to US veterans. His name has been suggested as the next Senate Republican Leader. Scott has served one term in the U.S. Senate, and that’s one term too many.  Read more about Scott’s awful record here.

Access to abortion is on the ballot in Florida

Kamala Harris is making reproductive rights and abortion access a keystone of her campaign. But in Florida, Republicans orchestrated a near-total ban on abortion. We must roll back this draconian law, and we can do that in this election by passing Florida Constitutional Amendment 4.

Watch the Florida Team News Page for more information.

Know the impact of your FPCA “intent to return” choice

Please note that some Florida counties, including Miami-Dade and Palm Beach, will only provide a ballot with state races and issues like Amendment 4 to voters who indicate on their FPCA that they "intend to return."

A voter does not need a specific date or specific plans to choose "intend to return", so please keep this in mind when completing your FPCA. If you weren’t aware of the impact before submitting your FPCA, you can submit an updated FPCA at any time at Vote From Abroad.

Dems are running hard in Florida!

There is a full slate of Democratic legislative candidates looking to break the Republican supermajority in Tallahassee. Most counties are electing members of their Board of Commissioners and Supervisor of Elections.

  • We have noted the most competitive US House races here.

These down-ballot races are important, and the people elected at these levels often become future legislators and members of Congress.

Enthusiasm is running high -- the Florida Democratic Party has reported that over 40,000 volunteers have signed on to work on campaigns across the state, just in the last few weeks

Finally, there are five more Florida Constitutional Amendments on the ballot this year, including one to legalize recreational marijuana and another that would politicize school boards.
