Message from the Chair
Fellow Veterans and Military Families (VMF) Caucus members–
Election Day is fast approaching. If you’ve been waiting to volunteer with us or if you’ve been putting off making a donation to Democrats Abroad (DA), now is the time. Every dollar helps with allowing for phone-bankers to reach voters, posting ads in media sources like Stars and Stripes, and ensuring DA’s voter protection efforts are available for all votes from abroad. Every hour spent volunteering with us translates to actions which are both meaningful and beneficial to the veterans and military families community. At this point in the election season, we are all hands on deck but there is still so much you can do help get out the vote. Getting the Harris-Walz ticket elected is a top priority, and with your vote we can put the final nail in the coffin of all things M.A.G.A.
However, we can’t forget about all the other down-ballot races and their importance. Hopefully by now you’ve already voted – please don’t forget to check with your local election office to ensure that your vote was actually received and counted. If you haven’t yet received your ballot, please send in a Federal Write-In Absentee Ballot, or FWAB, immediately. Between now and November 5, we’re continuing to tick the boxes and implement our VMF Get-Out-The-Vote (GOTV) Plan. If we all play our part, we’ll soon see Democrats win the White House, hold the majority in both chambers of Congress and other state legislatures, ensure veterans and military family members are adequately represented as lawmakers, and that the American people will have once again saved our democracy from Republicans’ corruption, dysfunction, and destruction. Thank you for being a member of the VMF Caucus, and please know that our work doesn’t end after Election Day. If you haven’t already put your hand up to volunteer, know there’s always more room for folks to roll up their sleeves and give us a hand.

ICYMI: Our October 2024 newsletter was e-mailed out to all VMF members at the end of September. It’s also posted here. (*Note: a correction was made regarding VA’s ongoing investigation of certain medical providers in Panama. The original newsletter stated “due to fraud” but it should have stated “due to allegations of fraud.”) However, in a follow-up to the situation, VA recently announced the suspension of several medical providers in Panama; see here.

VMF Volunteer of the Month
The Dems Abroad VMF Caucus’ Volunteer of the Month is Robert Rose – a proud veteran and Texas voter living in Hong Kong. Robert has worked tirelessly in helping create VMF’s candidate endorsement graphics which are available on the VMF website and on VMF’s social media channels. The VMF Caucus thanks Robert for lending us his I.T. skills, his spirited volunteerism, and his honorable service to our nation!
Additional fun facts about Robert: He’s addicted to buying kitchen knives and other cooking gear. Also, he loves taking public transit – for instance, he’d rather take 30 minutes longer to a destination while opting for a bus ride. Fortunately for Robert, Hong Kong has among the best public transit in the world, so it’s easy for him to enjoy being surrounded by the things he loves!
