CAN AMERICAN DEMOCRACY SURVIVE DONALD TRUMP?

As the US braves a constitutional crisis on the eve of the presidential campaign, fundamental questions arise.  What is an impeachable offense? What does “democracy” mean, and was the Constitution written to create a democracy or a republic?  What are the implications for the future functioning of the institutions? What might be the impact on the 2020 elections?

Mitchell Cohen, Professor of political science at the City University of New York, founder and co-editor of Dissent, author, and one of the leading intellectuals in the US.

Anne Deysine, Professor emerita, Paris Nanterre University, specialist of the US Constitution and author of many books on the subject, most recently Les Etats-Unis et la Democratie (l’Harmattan)
