The work of the Nominations and Elections Committee (NEC) for Democrats Abroad Spain (DA Spain) is to run the elections and to ensure participation by all DA Spain members. We aim to provide ample opportunity for you to vote AND encourage you to run for office. Below is some information you may find helpful.
The Chair of the NEC is Doris Stanger. The Election Meeting will take place at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Democrats Abroad Spain (DA Spain) on May 20th at the Regus Conference Center, Avenida Perfecto Palacio de la Fuente 1, Alicante, Spain from 12 noon until 2 pm.
In person voting at the Election Meeting will be by ballot. Absentee voting will take place online. Absentee voting will close at midnight May 19, 2023 CET. There will be no voting by proxy. Those persons attending the Election Meeting on-line are required to vote absentee in accordance with the absentee voting deadlines.
The NEC is accepting candidate applications through the online application form, until midnight, May 3rd, 2023 Central European Time. Candidate Application Form All eligible candidates will then be nominated to run for office by the NEC. The positions to be filled are Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, Counsel, 5 voting representatives and 3 non voting representatives.
Candidate information and online absentee ballots will be sent to all members of DA Spain on May 5th 2023.
There will be an online Meet the Candidates forum on May 9th.
If the NEC does not receive sufficient candidates to fill all positions, nominations will be accepted from the floor of the Election Meeting. Only those physically present will be eligible to vote.
