🌟From your DAJ National Officers!

 

We held a successful Annual General Meeting this past Saturday, being able to confirm quorum promptly and getting through each agenda point efficiently to end the meeting ten minutes early, sharing laughs along the way. Thank you to all members who attended both virtually and in-person! Minutes from the meeting will be shared once they are ready, but here is the slide deck from the meeting, for those who wish to review and access links. Thank you again for your support!

For this week's newsletter, voting is now underway for the DAJ National Election, DAJ Chapter Elections are in their nominations period, voting on the DAJ Bylaws will begin soon, and some events are coming up. See below for more details.

🌟DAJ and DA Asia-Pacific News and Upcoming Events

DAJ National Election 2025 - Voting Period now!
Voting is now open for this year’s DAJ National Election. Members have two ways to vote:

  1. Fill out a digital ballot. (if you access the digital ballot link from the email with the subject line "[BALLOT ENCLOSED] DAJ National Election 2025" sent on April 19th, your membership number will be automatically filled in.)

  2. Print and fill out a PDF ballot, then take a scan or image of the completed ballot and email it to [email protected]

All ballots must be returned by Saturday May 17th at 11:59pm Japan time.

Anyone interested in being a write-candidate is welcome to submit a candidate statement to [email protected].
All candidate statements, including from write-in candidates, can be viewed in this folder.

DAJ Chapter Elections - Nominations Open!
Nominations are now open for all three chapter elections: Kanto, Kansai, and Tokai. If you are a member in one of these chapters, please check the call for nominations below:

From the 2025 DAJ Bylaws Committee
The most recent update from the Bylaws Committee can be read here.
Voting on the proposed bylaws will begin on April 25th.

DAJ Discord Server
As part of our ongoing outreach, DA Japan is excited to announce that we are launching a Discord server so that our members nationwide have an open forum to interact and share ideas. We are looking for volunteer moderators and server staff to help us make this space the best it can be!

Kansai Chapter: April Speakeasy in Osaka

Kanto Chapter April Speakeasy
Thursday, May 15th, 7:30pm
Aldgate Pub, Center Gai, Shibuya
Due to Golden Week, this month's Speakeasy will be held on the third Thursday, still at the Aldgate in Shibuya. Enjoy good company and conversation, have a drink, learn more about Democrats Abroad Japan, talk politics, elections, or not! Bring your friends, whether or not they're DA members. All are welcome!

Attention members from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Virginia: you have elections coming up this year. Check your state rules for deadlines; they may be approaching fast.
