On March 24th (5:30 - 7:30 p.m), in solidarity with the March For Our Lives events around the world, the Wiesbaden/Mainz Chapter of Democrats Abroad Germany is having a candlelight vigil to remember the victims of gun violence which affects us all. Please join us at 5:30 at the Dernsches Gelände in Wiesbaden, between the two entrances to the underground parking.

We’ll be live-streaming on Facebook to add our voices to the worldwide plea for gun control in America. Participants can read poems, sing or play music, share gun violence experiences, share thoughts about lives lost to gun violence, and most important demand action from our leaders. Please contact Teresa to be included in the program. During the event, we will highlight the many victims of gun violence with signs memorializing the names and ages of the victims and the location where they were killed; So you can be a silent participant, if you wish. We will provide the signs; if you have a name to include please contact Teresa.

After the world has heard our voices, our hopes, and our fears, we will gather in at the restaurant Der Andechser im Ratskeller, which is just a few steps away, to discuss American gun politics with a focus on solutions and ideas from other countries, such as Germany, that might be a model for legislation in the US. You will also have the opportunity to register to vote and request your ballot so you can make a difference in this midterm election year.

If you cannot make it to Wiesbaden, you can still participate. Watch and share our Facebook live event starting at 5:30 pm. You can also share one or more of these meme’s on Facebook.
